My son is indebted to me forever! Walmart.com finally had XBox 360's in stock! Xbox 360 Customer Choice Bundle with Hard Drive was advertised for $838.52 which included 6 games. What they don't tell you is that only three games qualify as "free" additions. The other three require a $10 upcharge each. So with the games, shipping and tax, I belted out $967.51. Luckily I applied for a Citibank Simplicity Card that offers a Free $10 gift certificate with your first purchase!

Close, But No Cigar on an XBox 360

Well, my son's birthday came and went with no XBox 360. I gave him an IOU. I was in Vegas for a conference, and they gave away an XBox 360 as a prize. Unfortunately, I didn't win. But I did offer the winner $600 for it. Didn't work. He had 2 sons at home wishing for one as well.

No XBox 360 under our Christmas Tree

I told my son ahead of time that I was unable to find him an XBox 360 for Christmas, but deep down, I think he held out hope that I was fibbing him and that the mini-fridge wrapped up under the tree was really the console he yearned for. Granted he immediately stocked up the mini-fridge in his room with Dr. Pepper, but he was disappointed.

His birthday is January 5th, and I would love to be able to surprise him with an XBox 360, but most of the reading I have been doing on the availability, it isn't hopeful. Most pre-orders are due out 2/28/06. Maybe I'll give him an I.O.U.

I did find a few sites that are tracking online availability that I plan to visit frequently....

GameStop.com has XBox 360's!!

Gamestop.com has XBox 360's! The Xbox 360 Pro Steel Bundle is $999.86 which is probably an okay deal, but I was hoping to find one a little cheaper (ie with less games). The site said orders may not ship until 1/31/06, but I know someone that ordered one, and he received it within 2 days!
